Code of Conduct

This is how we play. It applies to every player, parent, coach, and staff member at every LUA practice, scrimmage, match, camp, and event, in person and online. It also applies in the LUA Discord, in league Discords, in game chat, and anywhere you are representing LUA.

If a league we compete in has stricter rules than these, the league rules win. Right now that means the Valhallan Esports League (VHEL) bylaws and game rulebooks.

Players

1. Respect everyone

  • Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, staff, and referees the way you want to be treated.

  • No name-calling, insults, or jokes about anyone's race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, body, family, or money.

  • No trash talk that crosses into personal attacks. Competitive banter is fine. Making someone feel bad is not.

  • Say "glhf" before a match and "gg" after, whether you won or lost.

2. Play fair

  • No cheating. That includes hacks, aimbots, macros, scripts, exploits, and stream sniping.

  • No intentional use of bugs or glitches, even if you think the league doesn't know about it yet. If you find one, tell your coach.

  • No smurfing, account sharing, or playing on someone else's account.

  • No throwing matches, sandbagging, or losing on purpose.

  • Play only on the account you registered with. If you break a game publisher's terms of service, the league can bench you for the rest of the season, and you can't make a new account to get around it.

3. Keep your comms clean

  • Voice and text chat stay PG. No profanity, slurs, or sexual content.

  • No spamming, no yelling at teammates, no rage-quitting.

  • If you're tilted, mute yourself and take a breath. Don't take it out on someone else.

  • What you say in game chat to opponents can be screenshotted and sent to the league. Assume it will be.

4. Stay safe online

  • Never share your real name, school, address, phone number, or passwords with anyone online.

  • Only use the LUA Discord and league Discords for LUA activities. No side servers, no DMs with strangers.

  • If anyone online makes you uncomfortable, says something inappropriate, or asks you to keep a secret, tell a coach or your parent right away. You will never be in trouble for reporting.

  • Don't click links or download files that someone sends you unless your coach says it's for a match.

5. Show up ready

  • Be on time. For matches, be in the Discord and ready to play 15 minutes before start.

  • Tell your coach as early as possible if you can't make a practice or match. Your team is counting on you.

  • Bring what you need (headset, peripherals if you use your own) and have your game accounts logged in and updated before practice starts.

6. Take care of the space

  • LUA equipment is shared. Treat PCs, monitors, controllers, headsets, and chairs carefully.

  • No food or drinks at the stations unless a coach says otherwise.

  • If something breaks or isn't working, tell a coach. Don't try to fix it yourself.

  • Clean up your station before you leave.

7. Streaming and social media

  • Don't promote your personal stream or socials during league events without permission from your coach.

  • If you want to stream a league match, ask your coach first. The league requires opponent approval and a delay on any stream.

  • Don't post anything about opponents, teammates, or LUA that you wouldn't want your coach to see.

Parents

1. Support, don't coach

  • Coaches run practices and matches. Let them. If you have feedback, bring it to the coach outside of practice time.

  • Cheer for effort and sportsmanship, not just wins.

  • Don't give your child instructions during a match, in person or over their shoulder at home.

2. Model the behavior you expect

  • The player rules on respect and clean comms apply to you in the LUA Discord and at the facility.

  • Don't argue with referees, league admins, or opposing coaches. Concerns go through your child's coach.

  • Don't confront other parents or other kids about something that happened in a match. Report it to LUA staff.

3. Own the online setup

  • You are responsible for your child's Discord and game accounts. Set up privacy and safety settings, and keep an eye on them.

  • Remote practice is a privilege. If you elect it, you're agreeing to supervise it.

  • Report anything you see in the Discord that worries you, even if it's not about your kid.

4. Communicate early

  • Let the coach know about absences, schedule changes, or anything going on that might affect how your child shows up.

  • Check the LUA Discord announcements. That's where schedule changes and league updates go.

Coaches and Staff

  • Model everything above. Players copy what they see.

  • Keep all communication with players in the LUA Discord or in person. No private DMs, texts, or social media contact with players.

  • Never be alone with a player in a space that isn't visible to other staff or parents.

  • Enforce this code consistently. The star player gets the same rules as everyone else.

  • Report every incident, even minor ones, so patterns get caught early.

What happens if you break the code

We use a ladder. Where you start on it depends on how serious the incident is.

  1. Warning. Coach talks to the player (and parent if needed). Logged.

  2. Benched. Player sits out the rest of the session or the next match.

  3. Suspension. Player is out for a set number of practices and matches. Parent meeting required to return.

  4. Dismissal. Player is removed from the program. No refund.

Some things skip straight to suspension or dismissal: cheating, threats, bullying, sharing someone's personal info, sexual content, or anything that puts another person at risk.

Parents can be asked to leave the facility or removed from the Discord for violating the parent section. Repeated parent violations can result in the child's dismissal.

League penalties are separate. If VHEL or another league bans, suspends, or forfeits a player or team, LUA cannot overturn it, and it may affect the whole roster.

Reporting

See something wrong? Tell any coach or staff member, or email info@luaesports.com. You can also message a coach directly in the LUA Discord. Reports are taken seriously and kept as private as possible.
